Attribution Policy

Overview

This document outlines the attribution policy for the use of the datasets provided within the Orca Data Platform. Clinical datasets take a significant amount of time and effort to collect and curate, and it is important that the individuals responsible for this work are acknowledged.

Policy

Purpose

This policy ensures that anyone consuming datasets surfaced through Orca and G-Trac gives clear and consistent credit to the originating studies whose work enables downstream analysis.

Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All datasets prepared, processed, or published through Orca, regardless of storage location.
  • All internal and external communications, reports, presentations, publications, or tools that rely on Orca-produced data.
  • Any redissemination of raw or derived data products built from Orca datasets.

Required Attribution

Papers and publications that use datasets from Orca must credit the source study in the acknowledgments or methods section. Additionally, authorship must include the authors of the source study(s) whose data was used.

Exceptions and Constraints

Any request to omit or anonymize study or steward names must be approved by the data steward and the Orca governance lead.

Compliance and Recordkeeping

  • Project teams are responsible for retaining evidence of attribution in project documentation or publication records.
  • Orca governance will periodically audit high-impact deliverables for compliant attribution.

Questions and Updates

For clarification, contact the Orca governance lead at shaun.chuah@glasgow.ac.uk. This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as platform processes evolve. Always reference the latest version in Orca Docs.
